This Document

This document is part of a larger set regarding the Cairnduff (or Carnduff, Carrinduff) family from Newtownards that relate in a genealogical sense to Henry (old Harry) Cairnduff – the grandfather of the researcher, Patti Spice. This first version is to be taken as a “Draft”. Family are welcome to provide comments (suggestions, corrections, additions). It is issued by circulating a USB to one member of each family line and copied out from there. If your family line would like the final version (with edits from comments received over the summer) please return the USB to Patti once you have downloaded the data. This specific document, looking back over the first marriage of Harry’s father’s is the first of four to be issued. Other ‘instalments’ will contain a large percentage of photos and be available by April 30, 2020: • Joseph Carrinduff and Mary McKee (focus on Joseph’s second marriage and the family lines descended from their children (with the exception of Harry) • Henry/Harry Cairnduff and the family lines descended from his marriage to the widow Mildred Stewart (nee Durbridge) For late fall 2020, the last document for Harry’s grandchildren and other interested Carnduff’s: • A deeper look into the life of Mildred Marion Stewart (nee Durbridge) and the Durbridge family.

Please send any comments, suggestions, corrections etc. to Patti Spice before October 1, 2020 - by email at pspice2@rogers.com or notice by mail to: 91 Homan Road, Corbyville, ON K0K 1V0

Joseph’s Father – Robert Carrinduff Robert passed away on March 9, 1879 at home on Mill Street, Newtownards. His is documented as a Widower and 65 years of age. We estimate his birth in around 1818 in County Down. While our earliest documented ancestor to be a Mason, he is likely not the first. Census records from 1841 and 1851 tells us Robert was married twice. We accept from “Ancestry” hints that he married Jane in about 1838. The census records from this time also speak to Jane as being “1st wife”.

Research into Robert’s second marriage is pending. Page 2 of 21: DOC_V-1a/PSPICE
